Pakistan To Improve Trade With Malaysia, Says Pakistan Foreign Minister

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 3 (Bernama) - Pakistan wants to improve bilateral trade with Malaysia and will find areas of common interest to create joint ventures, said Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi.

He urged Malaysian companies to invest in the agro-based industry as Pakistan had a lot to offer, including rice, Halal beef and mutton, mangoes, oranges and many more.

"There is a market in Malaysia and Pakistan is looking forward for more joint ventures in the food industry with Malaysia," he told reporters after the Badshashi Mosque scale Model Official Handover to the Islamic Arts Museum, Malaysia, here Tuesday.

Meanwhile, on the scale model of the Badshashi Mosque, Shah Mahmood said the mosque had a great historic, cultural and religious value and was representative of the great Mughal architect.

He said it was a valuable addition in the Islamic Arts Museum's collection, and would introduce Pakistan to the scores of Malaysian and foreign tourists who thronged the museum daily.

The Badshahi Mosque was built by the Great Mughal Emperor, Aurangzeb Alamgir in 1671, and is capable of accommodating around 10,000 worshippers in its main prayer hall and 100,000 in its courtyard and porticoes.

It is a famous landmark of Pakistan's second largest city, Lahore and is a major tourist attraction epitomising the beauty, passion and grandeur of the Mughal era.

Shah Mahmood later handed over the scale model of the mosque to the Deputy Chairman of the AlBukhary Foundation, Datuk Ismail Yusof.
